Why Kosrae?

Why Kosrae?

Kosrae is absolutely beautiful

It’s a hidden gem located in a quiet corner of the Western Pacific. Known as the “Island of the Sleeping Lady”, she was formed by a woman laying to rest and never waking up – her beauty world famous. Night skies of sparkling stars and moon light shimmering in reef pools. Life revolves around the wind, tides and waves. Hot days and cool nights. Surf lapsing at her shores with fresh produce and local fish in abundance. It doesn’t get better than this – we’ve looked.

Kosrae may not ever be developed, but that's okay with us!

It feels and looks like Hawaii did 50 years ago. A single paved road nearly makes it around the 42 square mile island. The ocean on one side, the mountains on the other. Fruit trees and tropical jungle surrounding us in every shade of green. There aren’t many people, and that’s because there aren’t many jobs. Half of the Kosraean population lives abroad – but of course, most people would prefer to return to their home island with family and way of life.

The Kosraean people are some of the nicest in the world

Although most of us live very frugally, our quality of life is very high. Kosrae has traditional hospitality, familial support systems, strong faith, unspoiled natural resources, communal food security, and a culture quick to share a laugh together. We drive slow, drink coconuts, relax by the ocean, sing and dance, hunt for shells, and enjoy each other’s company.

With Green Banana Paper, we see a way to make a difference

A way to responsibly develop an environmentally friendly manufacturing industry, creating dozens of new jobs for the local community.

Enjoy the best things to see in Kosrae with a plan including Green Banana Paper Company

I was there with Peace Corps from ‘82-‘84. Lives with a wonderful family in Malem. The island is gorgeous and I still recall the spectacular sunsets and people.

I was there in 1987 with the US Army “CAT 84-24” . We had our own Camp. Just wondering if it is still there or someone took it over. I spent 6 month and we also had a Training Program. It was a Great Place! You still getting Slipper Lobster Tales for .25 each at the Marina?
